The Chef is responsible for ordering, storing and preparing the meal to be served for the dinner. A check for the budgeted amount should be issued 3 weeks prior to the performances.

The Chef should design the menu based on menus of previous shows along with the availability of items. Another consideration for menu items can be the theme of the show. Beverages that are sold at the Bar will be purchased by another assigned staff person, or by the Producer.

The kitchen staff varies as needed, but typically includes an Assistant Chef, Food Prep, and Dishwasher. The Chef often selects or brings his/her own staff.

The Dining Room Director is responsible for ensuring that the meal service flows smoothly. The majority of our dinner theatres serve the meal before the show in the same area where the production is performed, so timing of reducing kitchen noise when the show starts is important.
Responsibilities:
- Recruiting volunteer wait staff and bartenders
- Setting up tables and chairs prior to the first dinner show. This includes putting on tablecloths, flatware, sugar, butter, cream, salt and pepper shakers, condiments, lanterns and candles
- Cleaning up the dining room after each dinner
- Breaking down the tables and chairs after the last dinner performance
